• Minecraft survival. You say you’re heading into the Nether with half a stack of bread. Lines like “half a stack of bread for the nether is brave” and “grab fire res before the fortress” follow.
• Cooking stream. You tell chat the dough needs 20 minutes to rest. Expect “20 minute rest, sauce time?” or “what flour is that”.
• Just chatting. You mention a second cat joined the house this week, and chat asks “what’s the new cat called” and “how is the first cat taking it”.
• Music stream, no talking. The title “Lofi beats for studying, rain sounds, 3 hours” is all the AI has, so you get “rain and lofi is the right combo for this essay” and “3 hours, perfect, two chapters left”.

Each line hangs off something you said or put in the title. A canned list posts the same “nice stream” and “first time here” whatever you’re doing.

What your YouTube live chat needs for the AI to post

Your live chat has to be on and open to everyone while you’re live. These YouTube settings stop the messages:

• Subscribers-only chat, including the version that requires people to have subscribed for a set time.
• Members-only chat. Only paying channel members can post, and the AI chatters aren’t members.
• Live commentary mode, where only users you pick can send messages.
• Made for kids. YouTube switches live chat off on streams set as made for kids, so there’s nowhere to post.
• Not being live. AI chat only starts once your stream is on air; Auto-Start handles the timing.
• Your own filters. Hold-for-review and your blocked-words list apply to our messages like anyone else’s, so a strict setting can hold or hide some of them.

How many AI chat messages each YouTube plan includes

What YouTube’s policies say about AI chatters

Using AI chatters isn’t illegal, but it goes against YouTube’s fake engagement and spam policies. The spam policy names “high-volume, repetitive, or deceptive comments, live chats, or other messages” directly.

YouTube can delete messages it judges inauthentic. Under its Community Guidelines it can also issue a warning, then strikes, and three strikes within 90 days can get a channel terminated. Action against a channel is rare but possible, and we can’t promise it won’t happen.
