Figuring out how to get more followers on TikTok starts with the people who already watch you: give them a reason to expect your next video, and a profile that backs it up. TikTok’s For You feed decides who sees a video. The viewer decides whether to follow, often within seconds of tapping your name.
Check which half is failing first. If a video with 40,000 views moved your count by 30, the video did its job and the account didn’t, which is what the seven tactics below fix. If nothing gets past a few hundred views, start with how to get more views on TikTok.
Why TikTok views don’t turn into followers, and why the count still matters
Views don’t become followers on their own because TikTok recommends videos, not accounts. Its explanation of the For You feed weighs the viewer’s own activity (what they like, share, follow and comment on), video details such as captions and sounds, and settings like language. Follower count and a record of past hits aren’t direct factors.
That cuts both ways. A 90-follower knitting account can put one video in front of 60,000 strangers, but they came for that video, and plenty swipe on without checking who made it. A follow is a bet on your next post. Your job is to make that bet easy.
The count still gates features, per TikTok’s Help Center and Creator Academy as of September 2026.
| Followers | What you get | Fine print |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | Going LIVE | You must also be 18 or older. TikTok says the follower number may vary by region. |
| 1,000 | A website link on your profile | Verified Business Accounts can add one below 1,000. |
| 10,000 | Playlists that group your videos by theme | Each video can sit in only one Playlist. |
How to get more followers on TikTok with a numbered series
A numbered series gives a stranger a reason to follow, because part 7 exists and following is how they’ll catch it. It works best when the format repeats and only the subject changes, like “Rating every gas-station sandwich in Ohio, part 6” or “Day 14 of learning the cello from zero”.
- Look through your last 20 videos for the one where comments asked for more (“part 2?”, “do the blue one next”). That topic is your first series.
- Give it a name you can say in three seconds, and put the part number on screen in the first frame.
- Post parts on days people can guess, such as Tuesday and Friday, and end each one by saying when the next lands.
- Past 10,000 followers, move the parts into a Playlist. TikTok adds a link to the full set on every video in it, including when that video shows up on For You.
Let the comments decide how long it runs. If requests for the next part dry up after part 4, don’t drag it to 30. Start a different series.
Set up your TikTok profile for the person who taps through from For You
Make the top of your profile say what you post and how often, because that’s what a visitor from For You checks before following.
- Name. Put your topic next to your name, like “Maya | 15-minute dinners”.
- Bio. One line on what you post and when: “A new 15-minute dinner every Tuesday and Friday.” A promise with a schedule gives the visitor something to follow for.
- Link. At 1,000 followers (or with a Verified Business Account) you can add a website link. Until then, your pinned videos do the explaining.
- Grid. If an off-topic clip from last year sits in the top rows, set it to private. Someone who came for dinners and finds a car-detailing video has a reason to hesitate.
Keep the account public. A private account turns every follow into a request you have to approve, and a curious viewer can’t see your grid until you do.
Use your three pinned videos as a trailer for the account
Pick three pins that, together, tell a new visitor what the account is. TikTok lets you pin up to three videos above the rest of your grid, and they stay there however much you post.
- Part 1 of your running series, so someone who lands on part 7 can start at the beginning.
- Your best converter, not your most-viewed video. A post with 9,000 views that added 200 followers earns the spot over an 80,000-view hit that added 20.
- A 15- to 30-second intro that says what you post and when, shot like your normal videos rather than like an ad.
Don’t pin a one-off hit that has nothing to do with your usual content. It draws visitors who want more of that, and your grid tells them there isn’t any.
Reply to TikTok comments with a video, not just text
A video reply turns one viewer’s question into a new post for everyone. Tap the comment, tap the camera icon to the left of the comment field, and record. The comment appears as a sticker on your video, so new viewers know what you’re answering.
The reply shows up in the comment thread and as a new video on your profile, so it can reach people who never saw the original. They meet a creator who answers questions, which sells the follow better than any “follow for more” caption.
Pick comments other viewers would ask too. On a 400-follower bike-repair account, “Will this work on disc brakes?” is worth a 25-second reply. “First” isn’t. Answer in your opening sentence, then point back to the original video or the next part of your series.
Go LIVE on TikTok once you pass 1,000 followers
TikTok’s Help Center says you can go LIVE with 1,000 followers if you’re at least 18, and that the follower number may vary by region. Our guide to how many followers you need to go live on TikTok covers the age check and streaming from a PC.
LIVE streams appear in the For You and Following feeds, so a stream can reach people who have never seen your videos. Pick a title that says what’s happening (“Answering houseplant questions, show me your sad plant”) and have something underway when people join. They drift in mid-stream, so every few minutes say who you are and what the stream is about.
- Go LIVE at the same times each week, so followers learn when to find you.
- Ask for the follow at a moment that earns it, such as right after you answer someone’s question by name.
Collaborate with creators whose viewers would like you
A collaboration puts you in front of people who already follow someone like you, a warmer audience than a random For You viewer.
- Duet: your video plays side by side with another creator’s. Good for reactions and “I tried their recipe” videos.
- Stitch: a clip of someone else’s video opens yours. Good for answering a question a bigger creator in your niche asked out loud.
- LIVE co-host or multi-guest: you share a stream, and each audience meets the other creator.
- A joint shoot: you film together and each post your own cut, naming the other account in the caption.
Duet and Stitch only work on videos where the creator has left them switched on. Pick partners in your niche and roughly your size. A 2,000-follower account and a 3,000-follower account both gain from saying yes, while a creator with two million followers has little reason to.
Find your best time to post on TikTok in your own analytics
Post when your own followers are active, which your analytics show by hour and by day. Generic “best time to post” charts average out millions of accounts that aren’t yours. Timing won’t rescue a weak video, but it decides whether the people most likely to watch are awake when you post.
- Open the followers section of your analytics and note the busiest two-hour window on your three busiest days.
- Post in that window for two weeks. Keep format and length the same, so timing is the only thing that changes.
- Try a second window for the next two weeks.
- Compare followers gained across the two blocks and keep the better window. Check again after any big jump, since a US account whose video takes off in the UK can see its peak hour move several hours earlier.
Under a few hundred followers, the chart is noisy. At that size, a schedule you can keep beats a perfect hour you can’t.
Ways to gain followers on TikTok that cost more than they bring
Four common shortcuts add followers who never watch, and two of them run into TikTok’s rules.
- Follow-for-follow and like-for-like chains. TikTok’s Community Guidelines say content that tries to manipulate people into inflating likes or follows isn’t eligible for the For You feed. Those followers came for a follow back, not your videos.
- Mass-following strangers. TikTok lists spam among the behaviors it doesn’t allow, and follow-backs from outside your niche add a number, not viewers.
- Chasing every trend. An off-topic trend brings viewers who won’t want your next video and muddies the grid for those who might.
- Changing topic every week. People followed you for one thing. If your next five posts are about something else, expect unfollows.
When buying TikTok followers makes sense, and when it doesn’t
Buying followers makes sense when your videos already get watched and the number in your header is what lets you down. It changes that number, not who sees your videos.
| Your situation | Worth buying? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your videos get watched, but your header says 40 followers | Can help | A visitor who liked one video sees an account that looks active instead of brand new. |
| You’re 150 short of the 1,000 needed for LIVE | Can help, with a margin | Some bought followers can be removed later, so land above 1,000 rather than on it. |
| Your videos stall at a few hundred views | No | Followers don’t feed For You. Fix the opening seconds and the topic instead. |
| You want to earn from TikTok | Not on its own | Creator Rewards pays on qualified views, and bought followers don’t watch. See how much TikTok pays. |
Buying them isn’t illegal, but TikTok’s Community Guidelines ban services that artificially inflate engagement. TikTok removes fake followers it detects and can limit the For You reach of accounts that manipulate the platform. Action against the account itself is rare but possible. We pace delivery and never ask for a login, and no seller, us included, can promise TikTok won’t remove some of what you bought.
If you’re in one of the first two rows, you can buy TikTok followers on Socialbot with only your @handle. Keep the account public until they finish arriving. They start within 3 hours and arrive at up to 5,000 a day, and if the count drops within 7 days, we top it back up.
Starter weekly ($9.99) includes 250 followers every 7 days and Starter monthly ($34.99) includes 1,000 every 30 days. The one-time $4 trial includes 50. If you post a series every Tuesday and Friday, an Auto-Start rule of 100 followers per post uses 200 of Starter weekly’s 250 (how Auto-Start works). The same plan on our TikTok growth service also includes likes, views, comments, saves and shares.
